According to Egyptian authorities, Mexican glass manufacturer Vitro plans to expand to Egypt and invest USD 400 million to build two factories.

The two factories would produce flat glass and glass containers and expected to export the majority of their output abroad. The factories could create as many as 1,500 jobs.

Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouli met with Advisor Muhammad Abdul Wahab, Executive Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, to follow up on a number of projects being implemented. Among the projects was Vitro’s proposal to build a 350 thousand metre glass factory, and another factory to manufacture containers on an area of 150 thousand metres under the free zone system.
